The Regional Fund for Agricultural Technology (FONTAGRO), together with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), held the award ceremony for the IV Successful Cases of Innovations in Bioeconomy Competition 2023–24 on Tuesday, April 2nd, at the IICA Headquarters in San José, Costa Rica.
This event brought together executives from the FONTAGRO Executive Committee led by its President, Dr. Juan Cruz Molina Hafford, Vice President Dr. Jorge Juan Ganoza Roncal, and Executive Secretary, Dr. Eugenia Saini. Also in attendance were the Executive Director of INTA of Costa Rica, Dr. José Roberto Camacho, and the leaders of the winning projects: the Secretary of Economic Development of the Government of the State of Zulia – Venezuela, Dr. Fernando Torres, the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of MicroBios S.A. from Paraguay, Dr. Walter Sandoval, the Administrative and Financial Director of CORPOVALLE from Colombia, Dr. Alejandro Celis, among other members of the FONTAGRO Board of Directors and participants in the competition.
We express our gratitude to the organization for the award in Category II: Institutions and Organizations of Science and Technology of Latin America and the Caribbean. Awarded Project: Industrial scaling of fertilizer bioactivator based on naturalized microbiomes in Paraguay, which develops bioactivator additives for fertilizers, improves fertilizer efficiency, reduces GHG emissions, and increases crop yield by 12% with 30% less fertilizer.
